Choghadiya (चौघड़िया, also spelled Chaughadia) is a Vedic time-division system from Jyotish Shastra that divides each day and night into 8 equal periods. Each period is approximately 1.5 hours and is ruled by a specific planet, making it auspicious or inauspicious for various activities.
The system is especially popular in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra for determining the right time for travel, business transactions, and important decisions without consulting a detailed Panchang.
